Evangelical crusade at Kiterini

By the grace of God, a five-day Gospel crusade was held in August 2024 in Kiterini village, Moshi Rural District, Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, bringing significant spiritual impact to the community. Throughout those five days, the Word of God was preached boldly by Rev. Redson Ifande, and the response was overwhelming. More than 80 people gave their lives to Christ, and seven chose to be baptized immediately as a public declaration of their new faith. There was great joy as many stepped forward with courage, knowing the decision would not be easy.

The new believers faced strong opposition because of religious pressure in the area. Many were threatened; some with death, others with being driven from their homes, denied school fees, or rejected by their spouses. Out of fear, some stepped back from openly practicing their faith, while others have continued coming to church faithfully, holding onto Christ despite the challenges and intimidation.

One woman’s testimony especially reflects the cost of discipleship. After giving her life to Christ, her husband and father-in-law forbade her from attending church. She boldly declared that it is better to lose a husband than to lose Jesus, standing firmly on the truth of Matthew 10:37. When she returned home from church, her husband beat her so severely that she nearly lost her life. Around 11 p.m., she fled to the pastor for refuge before later returning to her parents’ home for safety.

Today, her life stands as a testimony of God’s sustaining grace. She has remained faithful, has been filled with the Holy Spirit, and now serves in the church as a scripture teacher, and a devoted choir member. Once known as Fatuma, she is now called Jackline; a sign of her new identity in Christ. Her journey is a powerful reminder that even in the face of persecution, God strengthens those who remain steadfast in Him.
